Finished Chemo

kate48301

✨Yesterday my sore fingernails headed south down to my toes and feet, I’ve started to develop neuropathy, a condition that effects the nerves through certain types of chemo drugs and often why people have to stop early. My big toe is numb and I have burning, tingling feeling in all toes, any ounce of a bed sheet crosses the top it feels like a razor blade. This can last days/weeks/months or become permanent.

✨It looks like my last chemo won’t go ahead, I’m totally fine with that 15/16 is no easy feat and I don’t want to risk this neuropathy becoming permanent. So that’s it, I’ve finished chemo…..what an anti climax, still haven’t spoken to my oncologist (she’s away) but the nurses and I had a good chat and I’m 99.9% sure that’s it.

✨So I did what I did at the start of all of this, got my sorry arse, miserable, anti climaxed self out of bed. Organised a babysitter, invited an amazing friend (more on her later), my sister, Jimmy and Sam and went out for dinner to celebrate 6 months of the biggest ups and downs of my life. I’d done it, 6 months of chemo in amongst covid and it was worth bloody celebrating!

✨Thank you to each and everyone of you for getting me to this point, I had tears at dinner thinking about the kindness and generosity of family and friends. You have helped me survived the first part of the roller coaster.

✨Can we take a moment to see just how happy and (handsome) my strongest support person is. Sam has been my rock, and although there were some rocky patches at the beginning as we both navigated our way through the turmoil, he has also been through the ringer and I love him more now than I ever have.

✨I’m exhausted and ready to recoup before the next stage, surgery! Finished a lovely breathe work with Sarah this morning, booked it weeks ago and the timing couldn’t have been better.

Goodbye GARY, 👋
