Now I’m starting to feel better ❤️🩹 and out the other side of my first chemo, I’ve become more and more aware of GERMS, Covid-19 and what that means for someone who is immune compromised.
I’ve just spent 7 days of chemo (1 week) feeling a bit toxic and to be completely honest I’d quite like to spend the next two feeling well before being hit again. If I get a temperature of 38, I am straight into ED, this, mucking up the running of our home life, putting me at risk of a severe infection, potentially delaying my chemo and leaving me feeling awful in a time when I should be feeling my best. So, I’ve decided for the next 6 months I’m going to be more cautious than normal, to reduce the risks where necessary.
Some things to help if you’re planning a visit.
a) If you or your children are visiting/having a play date, please ensure you and the rest of the family are 100% well.
b) Keep up regular hand washing/mask wearing when necessary.
c) As Delta moves down the country and you are out and about, please remember to sign in, sanitise and stay home if sick 😷
d) If you are unvaccinated, please let me know.
Keep visiting, I promise I‘m not going to be paranoid, just taking extra precautions for myself and my family. I’d rather know you or your children are not 100% and reschedule than risk going to hospital!
I’m also not going to be rushing out to malls, events, cafes and restaurants especially those that are crowded, sticking to alfresco dining options for the summer of 21/22! Happy to come visit your homes and you to visit mine instead, maybe even some outdoor walks as I start to get more strength and energy - got my first sweat up on the 🚴 yesterday 👊
Update: Great News
I feel like Gary (my golf ball size tumour) has shrunk already, he’s got no chance, see ya Gary! Also, had two full nights sleep since my diagnosis and feel like I could run a marathon this morning, whoop 🙌
